Strata MCP server
Give Claude and other AI assistants Strata's research: company briefs, fundamentals, filings, options, insiders, industries, the economic calendar and more. 49 tools over the Model Context Protocol, backed by the same data as the Data API.
- Server URL
https://api.catalystfinance.ai/mcp- Transport
- Streamable HTTP
- Access
- Read-only, except watchlist edits you approve
Connect Claude
- Open Add to Claude, or in Claude go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector and enter
https://api.catalystfinance.ai/mcp. - Choose Connect, sign in with your Strata account, and approve the access you want to share. No key needed.
- Ask a question, such as “What changed for NVIDIA this week, and what are the bulls and bears saying?”
Connect ChatGPT
In ChatGPT's developer mode, add a custom connection with the server URL https://api.catalystfinance.ai/mcp, OAuth authentication and automatic client registration. Under Advanced OAuth settings, add offline_access to Base scopes so the connection renews, then sign in with your Strata account. Custom connections need a ChatGPT plan that supports developer mode.
Other clients
Sign-in works only in Claude and ChatGPT. Any other client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP, including Claude Code, Cursor and Codex, connects with your API key as a bearer token. A typical configuration:
{
"mcpServers": {
"strata": {
"url": "https://api.catalystfinance.ai/mcp",
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" }
}
}
}With the Codex CLI, keep the key in an environment variable:
codex mcp add strata --url https://api.catalystfinance.ai/mcp --bearer-token-env-var STRATA_API_KEYAuthentication
- Sign in (OAuth). Claude and ChatGPT ask you to sign in with your Strata account. Research and portfolio access is read-only; an assistant can change your watchlists only if you approve Edit your watchlists. A connection stays active while you use it, ends after 30 days unused or one year at most, and you can disconnect any assistant from your account.
- API key. Send
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY, the same key as the Data API. Keep it in your client's settings or an environment variable, never in a prompt.

Limits
- MCP shares your Data API allowance: each tool call is one request, and by default you get 60 a minute and 10,000 a day (the day resets at midnight UTC). Need more? Talk to us.
- Each tool call times out after 30 seconds (60 for report generation).
- When a call fails, the tool returns an error your assistant can read and explain, rather than empty data.
